The Austrian chancellor does not overestimate the role of Austria in ending the war, but would like to do everything possible for this. Even, Nehammer pointed out, if this visit is used for propaganda purposes.

Carl Nehammer becomes the first head of state EUwho will visit Putin in the Russian capital after the start of the war. According to the Kurier edition, there is already criticism from Ukraine about the upcoming visit. The Bild newspaper cites a Ukrainian diplomat who was very skeptical about Nehammer’s mission, quotes DW: “How self-confident the Austrian chancellor is that he seriously believes that the trip now makes any sense after Putin has shown what a brutal war criminal he is.”
