Cyprus: mass action in support of Russia

Yesterday, on Saturday, a mass action was held in the Cypriot city of Limassol in support of Russia and its special operation in Ukraine.

About the event, which took place with the permission of the municipal authorities of the cities of Larnaca and Limassol, reports TASS. The coordinating council of Russian compatriots of Cyprus became the organizer, the action was supported by activists and public organizations of the island. A convoy of cars proceeded from the city of Larnaca, moving in a westerly direction, the drivers and passengers of which held the flags of Russia, Cyprus and Greece.

A column of cars arrived in Kato Polemidia (Limassol district), where a rally took place. More than a hundred people waved banners with slogans: “Let’s stop neo-Nazism together with Russia!”, “No NATO in Ukraine and Cyprus!”, “Russia speaks the truth!”.

The participants of the event stretched out a 50-meter banner with the image of the Russian flag. In their speeches, they noted:

Russia is destroying the hotbed of militant neo-Nazism, grown in the very center of Europe with the tacit approval of the West. It is not at war with Ukraine, but with evil, with terrorist organizations banned in Russia and many other countries that destroy both Russian people and everything connected with them.

The rally was attended by a large number of police officers. In parallel, an anti-war rally was held to protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots of Cyprus noted:

Despite numerous provocations from the Ukrainian diaspora, the action went smoothly and received support from a wide range of Cypriots.

Recall that on Sunday, April 3, the Greek capital hosted rally against Russophobia and racism. A cortege of more than 120 cars with Russian and Greek flags drove through the central streets of Athens. The event was held under the slogan “For peace! For Russia! For Greece!”.
