The State Duma of the Russian Federation was blocked on YouTube

Video hosting service YouTube blocked the channel of the parliamentary television of the State Duma of the Russian Federation “Duma TV”.

YouTube argued the reason in a corresponding message published today in the Telegram channel: the blocking is related to the rules of video hosting “regarding export restrictions and the application of sanctions.”

The authors of the Duma TV channel claim that more than 145,000 users have subscribed to it, and the number of views “in total was more than 100 million.” At the same time, the authors report that they were ready to block the channel on YouTube.

Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said: “Apparently, YouTube has signed its own verdict.” She urged users to save and “quickly” transfer content to Russian platforms, writes dw.

Roskomnadzor, according to RIA Newsdemanded that YouTube restore access to the State Duma channel:

“Roskomnadzor requires the American company Google LLC, which owns the YouTube Internet service, to immediately restore access to the State Duma channel Duma TV on video hosting and explain the reason for the introduction of such restrictions.”

The department emphasized that the State Duma is a representative and legislative body of power in the Russian Federation. The blocking of the YouTube channel of the state body hinders the dissemination of information and free access to it.
