On April 8, Greek police arrested two attackers who attacked participants in a motor rally held in Athens against Russophobia and racism.
Those arrested are charged with a crime of the law under several articles at once: insulting the symbols of another state, displaying racism, attempted murder, and violating the law on weapons. A statement from the Police Security Directorate states:
“Two foreigners were identified and detained for attacking a person on April 3. Together with other people, they attacked participants in a motor rally of pro-Russian organizations in the Omonia region. and violating gun laws.”
According to the initial data voiced by the investigators, it was established that the detained foreign citizens, along with other persons, attacked a convoy of pro-Russian organizations in the Omonia region. The attack damaged two vehicles and wounded two people. The message also says, quotes RIA News:
“During the searches carried out in the homes of those arrested, their clothes on the day of the attack, as well as two knives and a gas pistol, were found and confiscated. The arrested persons will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s office. The investigation into the identification and whereabouts of other criminals is ongoing.”
During the rally against Russophobia, two cars were attacked. A 7-year-old girl, who has dual citizenship of Russia and Greece, was injured. The attackers ripped out the Russian flag, smashed the windows in the car and hit the child on the hand with a pole.
In another case, several dozen people attacked two Greek participants in the run, whose car fell behind the column. One of them smashed the head of a runner with brass knuckles. It was reported that the Russian flag was torn.
