Summer has not yet begun and the heat has come, and forest fires are raging again in Greece. On the island of Rhodes, near the village of Soroni, a fire broke out on Tuesday (set on fire) forest, and there are fears that the flames could get out of control due to strong winds blowing in the area.

Meanwhile, in the Peloponnese, firefighters and volunteers have been fighting a forest fire since Monday evening in the Livadaki area, in the municipality of Andritsaina-Krestena, in the Ilia region.
The front of the fire exceeded 9 km, engulfing a forest that burned down in 2007 and began to recover again. More than 103 firefighters with 35 vehicles, five teams of firefighters on foot and three special aircraft are at the scene, according to the fire department, to extinguish the fire from the air.
At night, the fire brigade fought the flames approaching the residential areas of Livadaki, Pteley and Kallithea, the media reported. Local authorities are helping by mobilizing water tankers to transport water. The large fire was largely contained, but strong winds revived small fires.
One person was arrested for negligent arson. A man was burning branches near Livadaki on Monday afternoon, and the situation got out of control. According to ilivalivethis is the fourth arrest for negligent arson in the wider area in the past three days.
As many Greeks on social media are wondering about the forest fires that raged earlier this year, the media is reporting another fire in the Korfiotissa forest zone, near Xylokastro near Corinth. In total, more than 10 forest fires have occurred in Greece since the beginning of spring, 3 of which were large.
