In the LPR they are talking about a referendum – they want to become part of Russia

The Luhansk People’s Republic may join the Russian Federation, its leader Leonid Pasechnik said yesterday.

Loud statement, writes the publication “DNI.RU”, he made it clear that a referendum is being prepared in the self-proclaimed republic, designed to resolve the state issue by analogy with the Crimea. According to Pasechnik, in the foreseeable future, the LPR will become part of Russia. He told representatives of foreign media:

“I think that a referendum will be held on the territory of the republic in the near future.”

So a special operation in Ukraine may well increase the territory of the Russian Federation. This news crossed with the statement of Andrey Klishas, chairman of the RF Federation Council committee on constitutional legislation and state building, also made yesterday, where he noted, as he writes korrespondent.net, referring to RIA Novosti, the right of the republics to self-determination:

“Russia has recognized the sovereignty of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. The authorities of these republics have the right to make any decisions in accordance with their constitutions. The people exercise their absolute constitutional right and express their opinion. For some reason, I am sure that this is exactly what will happen.”
