Greece: 294 Ukrainian refugees in the last 24 hours

The wave of refugees is growing as major cities in Ukraine are being besieged and bombed.

The invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine has been going on for more than a month, which is pushing the country’s citizens to leave their unsafe place of residence. Since the outbreak of hostilities, 15,051 refugees have crossed the border with Greece, of which 4,731 are minors.

The Ministry of Civil Protection, based on data from the Greek Police Headquarters, reported that over the past 24 hours (03/27/2022) 294 Ukrainian refugees arrived in Greece, of which 62 are minors.

As previously reported by “AN”, on March 28, the Greek authorities should start launching refugee pre-registration platforms. The process of granting temporary protection to Ukrainian refugees will begin on April 4 at the regional offices. And today, March 28, the pre-registration platform will be activated so that citizens can apply and receive an individual meeting at the offices of the Asylum Service for issuing a certificate of temporary protection, obtaining a TIN and AMCA. This was stated by the Minister of Immigration and Asylum Notis Mitarakis in an interview with Real News.

The process will begin on April 4 at Asylum’s regional offices in Attica, Thessaloniki, Patras and Crete. According to the relevant European directive, the temporary protection regime will be applied retroactively to those who have arrived in the European Union since February 24, writes iefimerida.gr.

“Once the process is completed, the refugees will be free to choose where to stay in Greece,” Mr. Mitarakis said. They will also have direct access to health care, medicines and the right to work.. The Ministry will also launch a special job search page where vacancies for Ukrainian refugees will be posted.

About Financial Aid refugees from Ukraine, unlike their Arab and African “colleagues”, the question is in the Greek government until you get up. Nevertheless, according to “Afinskie Novosti”, the issue can be resolved if Greece receives funding for these needs from the European Commission or the UN.
