The officer died at the hands of his own subordinates

Russian soldiers killed their commander, Colonel Medvechek, Western officials say.

British online edition “The Independent” reports that the soldiers rebelled because of the heavy losses during the hostilities in Ukraine. Colonel Medvechek was the commander of the 37th motorized rifle brigade (OMBR), the anger of his subordinates was caused by a large number of deaths in the unit.

Edition “London Evening Standard” writes that the colonel was hit by a car, which was directed at him by angry soldiers. Western officials identified the deceased, noting that the incident demonstrated the “moral problems faced by Russian troops.”

NATO officials say newsbeast.gr, that up to 15,000 Russian servicemen could have been killed in a month of hostilities in Ukraine. They estimate that a total of 40,000 Russian military personnel were wounded, killed, captured and missing. They state:

“Colonel Medvechek was deliberately killed by his soldiers … as a consequence of the magnitude of the losses suffered by his brigade. Indeed, we believe that he was killed by his own soldiers. When we think about operations, it’s important not just to consider weapons systems and tanks, but we think about the moral and conceptual elements of combat power.”

Meanwhile, Russia, for the second time after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, announced the losses to date, reports RIA News. At a briefing in Moscow, Colonel General Sergei Rudskoy, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, informed:

Unfortunately, during the special military operation there are losses among our comrades. To date, 1,351 servicemen have died and 3,825 have been injured.

The war doesn’t stop anymore month. Both armies suffer losses. Both sides claim the tactical successes of their armies, while refuting the successes of the enemy. During the month of the war, every fifth Ukrainian was forced to leave his home, about four million people left Ukraine for neighboring states. The talks on a cessation of hostilities are called “dialogue of the deaf” by the media.
