The reaction of the inhabitants of Attica to the collection of humanitarian aid is impressive

From one end of Attica to the other, the municipalities mobilized to show international solidarity with the victims of the war: some in cooperation with the regional authorities, others in cooperation with the Greek Red Cross and the “Physicians of the World”.

The townspeople touchingly respond to the call for help. People of all ages flock to the municipalities, where they collect essentials and hygiene items, blankets and sleeping bags, diapers and baby clothes, and even medical supplies. Everyone offers what they can, causing the municipalities to quickly fill up with trucks.

Greek businessmen, shops and supermarkets are also contributing to this wave of solidarity. Some municipalities have already made the first deliveries to Ukraine, while others are extending the deadlines, seeing a great response from people.

In particular, the municipality of Glyfada has loaded ten trucks with essentials and the dispatch date has been set for March 8, but people have started going to the city hall since last Friday when the announcement was made.

The offer of Asklepiorn Hospital in Voula, which provided 380 new bedding and blankets, was significant.

The municipality of Paleo Faliro moved its vehicles and delivered its own humanitarian aid to the warehouses of the Greek Red Cross in Kolonos, the municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupolis itself, while the municipality of Agios Dimitrios delivered 130 boxes of food, essentials and medicines to the warehouse of “Doctors of the World”.

The first two trucks of the municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni have already set off after consultations with the Ukrainian Embassy and representatives of the Ukrainian community in Greece. In cooperation with Smile of a Child, the municipality of Elefsina carried out its own humanitarian action. Residents of the municipality collected humanitarian aid until March 18.
