A raid by the Attica Drug Enforcement Administration on a house in Melissia was very successful. Police discovered the heroin lab, arresting a 52-year-old and a 56-year-old man who turned out to be cousins of former SYRIZA minister Christos Spirtzis.
From a workshop in Melissia, two cousins of the former minister distributed counterfeit heroin in the squares of Athens. One of them has the exact same name as the former minister: Christos Spirtzis. The third arrested accomplice was engaged in the delivery of white death to brothels.
The police were shocked when, already in handcuffs, the brothers said: “We are cousins of the former minister.” Obviously believing it would give them a break.
For a long time, the police searched for this laboratory after information about it reached the Attica District Drug Enforcement Administration. The police watched and waited for the right moment to catch the criminals on the spot.
During the search, two brothers were handcuffed and seized 610 grams of heroin, 300 units of counterfeit substances, 900 units of methadone and some marijuana.
Also found were equipment for the production of heroin and a gun, which was sent to the forensic laboratories of the Security Service to determine whether it was … clean or used to settle scores.
Police statement:
As part of the procedure, three (3) local residents were arrested on the afternoon of March 16, 2022 in Melissia, Attica, by officers from the Drug Enforcement Subdivision of the Attica Security Authority, for violating the Law on Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances.
As part of the actions of the above service to detain drug traffickers and after investigating information about the actions of the above persons in the supply, storage and further circulation of heroin, liquid methadone and raw cannabis, the accused and their criminal activities were witnessed.
In accordance with the above, after a search was carried out in the house, which was also used as a room for an equipped laboratory for counterfeiting and processing drugs, it was found that a certain amount of heroin, liquid methadone and cannabis were in common possession for the purpose of further trafficking.
In total, it was discovered and seized:
- 613.6 grams of heroin
- 962 grams of liquid methadone
- 3.3 grams of raw hemp
- pistol with 5-round magazine
- 24 rounds
- two precise electronic scales
- powder of unknown chemical composition, suitable for counterfeiting heroin, weighing 270 grams
- 340 euro
- 3 mobile phones
- laboratory equipment for counterfeiting and processing medicines.
The arrested were taken to the Prosecutor’s Office of Athens.
