The armed robbery took place in the morning in a bank branch on Syngrou Avenue, on the level of Nea Smyrni.
According to Greek law enforcement agencies, today at 08:20 an unknown man with a partially covered face broke into a bank branch and, threatening with firearms, immobilized employees, writes iefimerida.gr.
Immediately after that, he grabbed a bag with an unspecified amount of money and fled. As soon as the robber left the branch of the financial institution, he jumped on the motorcycle on which his accomplice was waiting, and they disappeared. ΕΛΑΣ conducts investigations to find and arrest dangerous criminals.
Armed robbery at the end of 2021
As a reminder, on 23.12 there was an armed robbery of a bank branch in Nea Smyrni, while the attacker stole 8,000 euros. It has not been possible to establish his identity and arrest so far.
In general, according to the Greek media, in recent years there has been a “rampant crime” in Greece, armed robberies and raids are increasingly occurring. Especially, as noted, the situation worsened during the pandemic.
