Zakharova accuses Greece of “anti-Russian propaganda”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Greece of gross accusations against Russia. She stated:

“We drew attention to the unprecedented campaign unfolding in Greece to discredit Russian policy. High-ranking officials in Athens allow themselves to make harsh accusations against our country and its leadership, they literally compete with their like-minded people in it. They hypocritically talk about an “unprovoked attack” on Ukraine , for the first time since World War II, about a “massive invasion” and so on.

It should be recalled that wars and conflicts have been shaking the world over the past decades through the efforts, first of all, of the United States and its satellites – the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999, operations in Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Afghanistan. No one has taken responsibility for the enormous sacrifices and sufferings of the peoples of these countries.

Today, the crimes of the Kiev regime, which came to power as a result of the bloody coup of 2014, remain in the shadow of a new wave of anti-Russian criticism. The fact that Crimea and Sevastopol paid for their free reunification with Russia with a total blockade and Western sanctions is hushed up.

In the besieged Donbass, more than 14,000 civilians have been killed in neo-Nazi Ukrainian purges over the past eight years, and Russians have been urged to flee Ukraine. The meaning of the daily shelling can be explained, among other things, by Greek emigrants living on the territory of the Luhansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The European Union chose to silently observe the extermination of the civilian population of Donbass and was an accomplice in the protracted genocide of people in the south-east of Ukraine. Now Europe, including Greece, has fully integrated into the ranks of the supporters of the Kiev regime, and the Russophobic hysteria cultivated by the authorities has reached a boiling point. On this basis, profoundly wrong, criminal decisions are being made, including on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. In the end, weapons will be directed against civilians, including against the Greeks, who are used as human shields by Ukrainian nationalist battalions and who have already become victims of this inhumane tactic.

In the name of the collective Western plans to harm Russia at all costs, common sense has been sacrificed. Bilateral ties are purposefully spoiled, and Russian-Greek relations, unfortunately, are no exception. Athens actively supports the sanctions regime EU, accusing us of so-called “energy blackmail”, proclaiming the goal of speedy independence from Russian gas, the uninterrupted supply of which has been a stabilizing factor in the national energy sector for decades. By a collective directive from Brussels, the Greek skies were closed to Russian airlines. An order was given to suspend all cooperation in the field of culture, to stop the Years of Common Remembrance. There are calls for a complete end to all cooperation. Essentially for vague and dubious purposes.
