The price of natural gas in the European market has reached a record level

The price of gas has reached a new historical record in the European market – 345 euros per MWh.

Worried about possible problems with gas exports from Russia, which supplies 40% of Europe’s gas, the European flagship, the Dutch TTF, has set a new price record at 345 euros per megawatt-hour.

Oil prices have risen, in addition to the rise in gas prices

The price of oil rose sharply due to the situation in Ukraine. The price of a barrel of Brent oil – one of the benchmarks in the international crude oil market – today approached $140, that is, its historical maximum of $147.5, which it reached in 2008.

Shortly after the start of electronic trading on the international commodity markets at 01:00 (Greek time), the price of Brent crude oil for May delivery, the benchmark contract, reached $139.13 per barrel, after which it fell slightly.

At around 02:00 AM (Greek time), prices rose about 10.44% to $130.45. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the price of Brent crude has risen by 33%.

As for the other benchmark oil, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the main US oil export, the price of a barrel for April delivery reached $130.5. At 02:30, it rose by 8.18% to $125.15.
