When will masks be canceled in schools?

“We are in the process of de-escalating covid. Finally, the number of cases has a clear downward trend,” said Nikos Tsanakis, professor of pulmonology at the University of Crete.

In an interview with the channel OPEN he added: “The number of cases has dropped from 18,000 to 17,000. By the end of the month, we will approach 10,000 cases. The virus will, of course, remain in the 2% of citizens who are expected to be hospitalized. However, our healthcare system will be in very good condition, there will be no need to exert pressure and take measures that affect the social and economic life of the country,” writes dikaiologitika.gr.

Asked about masks in schools and when children can take them off, Nikos Tsanakis replied: “Leaving masks in schools is a realistic approach. 2,000,000 people have been ill. This naturally acquired immunity has been added to 70% -80% of those vaccinated. I consider it quite normal to wear a mask in schools, at least until Easter. I do not insist, but these are my recommendations.

Recall that the abolition of the measure for the mandatory wearing of an accessory that has bothered everyone in the open air from Saturday, March 5 this year, was proposed by an expert committee to the government in the context of mitigating measures against the coronavirus. But experts point out that it is highly recommended to still use a mask in crowded places, especially for unvaccinated and at-risk groups for serious illnesses. The proposal was accepted after a thorough study of the epidemiological situation.
