Greece: the number of refugees from Ukraine exceeded 3780, of which 1146 are children

In the last 24 hours alone, 625 refugees from Ukraine entered Greece, and since the beginning of the war, their number has amounted to 3,780. A day earlier, 515 Ukrainian citizens crossed the Greek border a day earlier.

Ukrainians come to our country in search of security, using all possible ways for this. The Ministry of Civil Protection reports that in the last 24 hours (March 5) 625 people arrived in Greece, of which 240 were children. newsbeast.gr:

  • via Evzoni 37;
  • across other land borders 24;
  • to Greek airports: 93 people to Eleftherios Venizelos and 1 person to Macedonia airport.

Former Minister for Citizens’ Protection Takis Theodorikakos stated:

“The arrival of Ukrainian refugees in Greece continues, but their number remains small. We are working closely with the Ukrainian Embassy to facilitate the arrival of all Ukrainian refugees. Their number may increase in the coming days, so we will have significant flows of visitors.”

In Mariupol, as the city council reported today, the evacuation of the civilian population begins at 12:00. According to the Coordination Center under the leadership of the head of the Donetsk Regional Civil-Military Administration Pavel Kirilenko today, March 6, from 10:00 to 21:00, a silence regime will be established. The route Mariupol – Portovskoye – Mangush – Rozovka – Bilmak – Pologi – Orekhov – Zaporozhye was chosen as a humanitarian “green” corridor.

The evacuation of the population will take place from three locations by municipal buses:

  • SC “Illichivets” (pr. Nakhimov, 53)
  • Drama Theater (Teatralnaya Square, 1)
  • Kalmius regional administration – (pr. Metallurgov, 193

Following the route of the humanitarian corridor, you can leave the city by personal transport, moving in a column of municipal transport (exclusively behind buses). Red Cross escort will be provided at the head of the column. It is strictly forbidden to deviate from the route of the humanitarian corridor. Additional notification of the residents of the city will be carried out by the national police.

Note that this will be the second attempt to evacuate civilians from Mariupol, yesterday broke.

Most refugees arriving in Greece find their first shelter and accommodation in the homes of relatives and friends already living in the country. While Russian troops are fortifying in southern Ukraine and besieging major cities, Athens continues its efforts to evacuation of the Greeks from Ukraine and ensuring the protection of those who remain.
