Details of upcoming negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

The Russian delegation arrived at the talks with Ukraine in the same composition as for the first time.

Moscow present Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky and Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov.

According to the head of the delegation, Medinsky, the parties have chosen Belovezhskaya Pushcha as the venue for negotiations, and the decision was made jointly. At the talks with the Ukrainian side, the topic of a ceasefire will be discussed, Medinsky noted:

“We decided together that it is more convenient here for both us and the Ukrainian side. Brest is a good airport, the Ukrainian side is closer to the Polish border, since, as far as I understand, they come to us through Poland.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the head of the Servant of the People presidential party in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a member of the Ukrainian delegation, David Arakhamia, said that the second round of negotiations with Russia would take place on the evening of March 2.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Moscow’s readiness for the second round of negotiations with Kiev, writes “News”. According to the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin is counting on a successful outcome of the negotiations, but does not give any forecasts.

A ceasefire will be discussed at the second round of Russian-Ukrainian talks, Vladimir Medinsky said. He noted that during the first negotiations on February 28, the parties voiced their positions and proposals:

“On a number of proposals, we generally found mutual understanding at the negotiating table. However, on some of the most fundamental ones, it was quite expected, the Ukrainian side took time to think and consult with Kiev.”

Later, the head of the Russian delegation said that the Ukrainian delegation would arrive for negotiations tomorrow, that is, there would be no negotiations today, writes “The country”.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov says that during the second round of negotiations with Ukraine, the Russian Federation is ready to discuss the issue of security guarantees. He recalled the main requirements of the Russian side: Ukraine must recognize the “LDNR” within the borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and undergo “demilitarization” according to some “clear” parameters. It is clear that Ukraine will not agree to this, the newspaper writes.

Another statement by Lavrov: “Russia offers Ukraine an agreement that will ensure the legal rights of all the peoples of this country.” That is, this, presumably, is “denazification”. But it is hard to imagine that the Ukrainian delegation would agree to discuss anything like that at all.
