Greeks collect humanitarian aid to Ukrainians

With blankets in hand, bags of food, children’s clothes, medicines, even jars of olive oil and anything that could help the people of Ukraine, dozens of Thessalonians responded to the Ukrainian consulate’s call to collect humanitarian aid.

“People want to help in any way they can, whether they be Greeks, Ukrainians or Russians,” says Natalia, who volunteers to help classify and pack humanitarian aid. “It just breaks my heart,” she continues, “when you see how many people come to give the last, and cry, sympathizing with people in trouble.”

For example, a woman who came with a package of medicines says that she “brought what she had in her home first-aid kit,” or an elderly woman who collected her grandchildren’s clothes carefully folded them to give them to the kids in Ukraine.

However, according to the volunteers who collect things, they no longer need more clothes. What’s really missing are non-perishable foods, milk powder, baby diapers and medicines. cnn.gr.
