Negotiations of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Belarus began

There was a message about the start of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Belarus. The parties agreed on the meeting the day before.

According to RIA NewsMoscow is represented by Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, head of the State Duma International Committee Leonid Slutsky and Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov.

Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia, Deputy Foreign Minister Mykola Tochitsky, adviser to the head of the presidential office Mykhailo Podolyak, Verkhovna Rada deputy Rustem Umerov, and the first deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Andriy Kostin came to the meeting from Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he “doesn’t really believe” in the results of the talks, but wants to use the slightest opportunity to end the war. The president’s office stressed that the main issue of the negotiations is an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.

Broadcasting of negotiations is not possible – the use of cameras is prohibited. The Belarusian news agency BelTA reported that the meeting would be held near the Ukrainian border on the banks of the Pripyat River in the Gomel region. Due to security reasons, the meeting place was not disclosed. But among themselves, the organizers of the talks call it “the fisherman’s house.”
