According to available information, this morning more than 180 flights were delayed or canceled at three Moscow airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo.
According to RIA News6 flights delayed and 43 canceled at Vnukovo, 9 flights delayed and 14 canceled at Domodedovo, 14 delayed and 100 canceled at Sheremetyevo.
From Monday, February 28, that is, from today, came into effect European Union ban for takeoff, landing and overflight of any Russian aircraft over the territory EU. Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, announced yesterday:
“We are closing airspace to Russians. We are proposing a ban on all Russian-owned, Russian-registered, and Russian-controlled aircraft. These aircraft will not be able to land, take off, or fly over European Union territory. This will apply to any aircraft: personal, charter or otherwise under the control of a Russian entity or private person.”
