Russian President Vladimir Putin delivers a televised address to the citizens of the country. It is broadcast by all state TV channels. The Russian president said that he was addressing not only the Russians, but also the Ukrainians.
“The situation in the Donbas has again become critical, acute. Today I am addressing you directly to not only assess what is happening, but also to inform you about the decisions being made, about possible further steps in this direction,” the Russian president said.
The president began his address with an excursion into the history of Russia and Ukraine, about the ties between the two countries. He stated that Ukraine is an integral part of Russia. “Ukraine for us is not just a neighboring country, it is an integral part of our own history, culture, spiritual space,” he said. Putin stressed that friends, colleagues, colleagues, relatives of Russians live in Ukraine.
