Early Thursday morning, at 03:48 on February 17, an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck near Preveza and Lefkada.
It was preceded by two tremors of lesser strength – magnitude 3.0 and 3.2 points, at 02:36 and 02:51. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the sea zone, 9 km southwest of Preveza. The depth of the outbreak is estimated at 1.4 km. Seismic activity was felt by residents of many areas, up to Patras.
The revised decision of the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory estimates this earthquake at 4.4 on the Richter scale, with a focal depth of 15.9 km and an epicenter 7 km northwest of Lefkada.
Intense seismic activity in this area was also observed the day before, on Wednesday, February 16, when two earthquakes were recorded – with a force of 3.9 and 3.7 on the Richter scale.
