The unfortunate man was a resident of a small island in the Dodecanese and decided to commit suicide because he could not stand the shame that his fellow villagers branded him with.
According to the publication dimokratiki.gr, there was a “leak” of a video of a personal nature, filmed on a mobile phone. The footage shows his son having an affair with another guy.
When the video spread, the father of the homosexual was simply hunted down: venomous comments and insults flew after him from everywhere. Unable to bear the shame that befell his family, the elderly man committed suicide.
The case received a great public outcry. A preliminary investigation is currently underway by the relevant police department.
As noted, apparently the man was of the “old school”. Otherwise, how can one explain the voluntary departure from the life of a resident of a country in which same-sex marriages are officially allowed?!
