Unbelievable but true: an 11-year-old boy had his hand sewn on

A nine-hour operation to save the life and hand of an 11-year-old boy from Zakynthos, crippled by a tractor during agricultural work, ended in complete success for doctors!

child’s hand got into a working mechanism, as a result of which he was left without her. While the father was nearby and worked, everything happened literally instantly.

11 highly qualified specialists from 3 hospitals in Attica took part in a complex operation performed at the “Agia Sophia” hospital. And they did, at first glance, the impossible – a 9-hour operation to restore a severed limb was successfully completed at 02:00 am on 02/13/22. The hospital’s announcement reads:

“With severe bleeding, the child was taken to the Zakynthos hospital and underwent surgery. However, despite the inhuman efforts of doctors, they failed to save the arm amputated from the shoulder. The unfortunate boy was then flown in a C-130 to a hospital in Athens. The little patient arrived at the hospital by ambulance at 16:30 on the same day in satisfactory condition. The amputated limb was transported on time. At 17:00 he entered the surgery of the SNPA “Saint Sophia”, where surgical replantation of the upper limb was performed at the height of the upper third of the arm. The patient was hospitalized in stable condition ΜΕΘ (Μονάδα Εντατικής Θεραπείας) hospitals”.

It is doubly joyful that, according to the announcement of the hospital, this operation was the first successful replantation of a child’s limb at shoulder level in Greece. newsbreak.gr.
