ION: a Greek company with a long history

The history of ION began in Neo Faliro on Pireos street. There, a group of shareholders, dreaming of becoming chocolate producers, begins to realize their grandiose plans. And, as history shows, they succeed.

According to the characteristic emblem (violet flower, which has the name “ion”, “ίον”, μενεξές), the Greeks began to recognize their favorite delicacy. The first announcement of the opening of production was made in the Government Gazette on September 23, 1930. From here begins the victorious march of the ION chocolate factory. Today, its headquarters is still located where it all began!

17 years later, ION Amygdalou is created. In 1975, a new page breaks with the opening of ION facilities in Arta. There begins the line for the production of waffles and chocolate bars. As the years go by, ION generates amazing ideas and the business grows and expands, bringing in fabulous profits to business owners. ION opens its operations abroad and becomes the Greek chocolate industry of international importance.

Today, ION, a 100% Greek company, continues to grow. With three state-of-the-art production facilities in Greece, with approximately 950 employees and a turnover of over 110 million euros per year, ION is among the 60 largest enterprises in Greece.
