The possibility of holding small celebrations during the carnival period was left by the secretary general of primary health care, Marios Themistocleous.
“The epidemiological situation in the country remains tense. Mortality remains high, and the omicron strain “lays” in hospital beds, especially the unvaccinated, the elderly and those with chronic comorbidities. We always listen to experts who constantly discuss this issue.
Most likely there will be no large, large-scale carnival processions and parades. But separate, smaller festive events for the population will be held locally. The Committee of Experts will tell us this after agreement,” said Marios Themistokleous.
According to him, a new meeting of experts is expected to consider the implementation of smaller carnival events. Until Easter, which citizens will celebrate this year much more freely (in terms of covid restrictions) compared to previous years, all restrictive measures will be curtailed.
With regard to vaccinated health workers, Mr. Themistocleous stressed that an extension of the suspension of work is expected, there are various proposals, but a final decision has not yet been made.
