Oscars 2022: who will win the awards? Nominees Announced

Live yesterday announced the 23 nominees for the prestigious awards at the 94th Academy Awards 2022 on March 27, 2022.

The ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The list of nominees was announced by Tracey Ellis Ross, the actress of the Star Assistant, the daughter of singer Diana Ross, and Leslie Jordan, an actor, a veteran of television series. Films released from March 1 to December 31, 2021 were eligible to participate in the award. Recall that due to the pandemic, the 93rd awards ceremony was postponed.

10 films will compete for the title of best film: Don’t Look Up by Adam McKay, CODA: Child of Deaf Parents by Sian Heder, Belfast by Kenneth Branagh, Nightmare Alley by Guillermo del Toro, Power of the Dog by Jane Campion, The King Richard by Reinaldo Marcus Green, Licorice Pizza by Paul Thomas Anderson, West Side Story by Steven Spielberg, Dune by Denis Villeneuve, and the Japanese film Drive My Car by Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

Three-Oscar winner Steven Spielberg was once again nominated for Best Director for West Side Story. Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car), Paul Thomas Anderson (Licorice Pizza), Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) and Jane Campion (Power of the Dog) will compete with him.

The favorite of the 94th Oscar in terms of the number of nominations (12) was Jane Campion’s film “The Power of the Dog” with Benedict Cumberbatch. She has already scored seven nominations and three wins at the Golden Globe. The Western follows two brothers who ran a large Montana ranch in the 1920s.

Best Actor and Actress nominees are exclusively celebrities. Men: Will Smith (“King Richard”), Denzel Washington (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”), Javier Bardem (“Ricardo”), Andrew Garfield (“Tick Tock…BOOM!”) and Benedict Cumberbatch (” The power of the dog).

Nominated for Best Actress: Olivia Colman (Strange Daughter), Nicole Kidman (Ricardo), Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers), Jessica Chastain (Tammy Faye Eyes) and Kristen Stewart ( “Spencer”). For the latter, this is the first nomination in her career.

The Russian animated film “Boxing Ballet” by Anton Dyakov was nominated for the Oscar-2022 in the category “Best Animated Short Film”. A picture about the love of the ballerina Olga and the boxer Evgeny. Competitors: British projects Affairs of the Art (“Artistic Affairs”) and Robin Robin (“Robin”), French-Spanish cartoon La Bestia (“The Beast”) and Spanish-American film The Windshield Wiper (“Wiper”). Feature-length animation category: Raya and the Last Dragon, Encanto, Breakout, Luke, and Mitchells vs. Machine.
