On the island of Skiathos, eyewitnesses observed a unique natural phenomenon – a waterspout.
Impressive is a rare phenomenon, filmed and posted on Facebook on the page “Weather Forecast in Greece”. In the footage, you can see how a water tornado moves through the snowy expanses of the island.
The presented photographs show the port of Skiathos covered with snow, and a waterspout is visible in the background.
A rare weather phenomenon is associated with a difference in temperatures: warm masses of water and sub-zero – the atmosphere, which is rarely observed in this area.
These waterspouts are inferior in strength to their land-based counterparts, but a watertornado can cause serious damage to moored boats.
