The competent parliamentary service and the cybercrime prosecutor’s office have established that last week’s cyber-hacking attempt originated in Bulgaria.
Although this does not mean that the Bulgarians acted, the only thing that was located in the country was the e-mail address of the hackers, from where the attack originated. Speaker Kostas Tassoulas, speaking in Parliament, explained the principle of the system:
“It’s an algorithm that throws out thousands of passwords every minute.”
He also focused on the fact that the attackers were interested in financial matters, such as communicating with banks.
The attack was received at paraliament.gr, i.e. 2000 addresses, but due to the fact that it was discovered in time, it only spread to 60-80.
