Schools, kindergartens, nurseries in Attica are closed on January 27 and 28

Schools, kindergartens and nurseries in Attica will remain closed on Thursday and Friday 27 and 28 January, the decision was made by the regional government on Wednesday after the effects of a snow storm caused by Cyclone Elpida.

Primary and secondary schools, as well as nurseries and kindergartens, will be closed on Thursday to “prevent accidents and better protect the safety of children,” according to the government’s decision.

Morning classes will be held online on January 27-28, 2022 in all snow-affected areas, the civil protection ministry said in a statement.

Schools, kindergartens and nurseries were closed in Attica and 5 other regions central and southern Greece from Monday 24 January due to snowy weather.

As the Civil Protection states:

“Tomorrow, Thursday, 01/27/2022, and Friday, 01/28/2022, e-learning will be conducted in all areas of the country in which the activities of school units (previously) were suspended in accordance with the decisions of municipalities and regions to have enough time to restore proper learning and schools.

Schools in other districts will operate as usual. The Ministry of Climate Crises and Civil Protection, as part of its coordinating role, is issuing a recommendation to all municipalities and regions affected by the storm to prefer that schools remain closed on these days.”

We remind you that distance learning will work for all school departments in the morning hours (except for evening schools).

The Office of the General Secretary of Primary, Secondary Education and Special Education of the Ministry of Education and Religions, Alexandros Koptsis, stated:

Tomorrow, Thursday, 01/27/2022 and Friday, 01/28/2022, e-learning will be held in all areas of the country in which the activities of school units are suspended in accordance with the decisions of municipalities or regions, in order to have enough time to restore proper traffic and schools. Schools in other districts will operate as usual. In all school units that reopen tomorrow, Thursday, January 27, 2022, students will self-test today, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, and in any case before arriving at school tomorrow. Likewise, in any school that reopens after a forced break, students undergo a self-assessment before coming to school. The next self-test will take place on the next prearranged day (Tuesday-Friday attendance). We remind you that distance learning will work for all schools in the morning (except in the evening). .
