Chaos at the airport “El. Venizelos: flights canceled, hundreds of people on the floor, receiving food stamps

Unprecedented scenes unfolded on Monday, January 24 at the international capital airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.

Chaos on Attiki Odos, the blockage of the railway connection, as well as the cancellation of flights, turned El. Venizelos” to a “hot spot”. Citizens were “locked in a trap.”

The first group of people who fled to the international airport were citizens who abandoned their cars at Attiki Odos and arrived here by commuter train.

Airport staff gave them vouchers for 10 euros for food, after which people settled right on the floor of the airport, deciding to spend the night here.

Among them were families with small children, as well as the elderly.
