Attiki Odos: police officer helped father carry daughter as she was to undergo surgery

A photo of a police officer who helped a desperate father carry his daughter, who needed to have an operation, was published by the police department ΕΛ.ΑΣ.

Law enforcement reported one of the many shocking cases of citizens stuck in a traffic jam on Attiki Odos. The report tells of the family’s misadventure – a father and daughter trapped on the Imittos ring road and how they were rescued by the police.

ΕΛ.ΑΣ announcement:

“At midnight (00:30) on January 25, the OPKE began to rescue people trapped (trapped in a traffic jam) in the Imittos area. Priority was given to rescuing a little girl whose father said that they had been walking in the snow for several hours, and in the morning the girl needed to go to the hospital for an operation. So they walked for several kilometers, as the car was blocked by snow drifts on the road. The police found the father carrying his daughter on his back walking towards Dukissis Plakentias. Law enforcement officers picked them up and delivered them safely to their address. The same OPKE team located a military doctor who, due to health problems, felt unwell and needed emergency care. The man was taken to the 401st military hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The OPKE rescue group provided citizens in need with their personal supplies of water and food.”
