In the last days of 2021, the Greek Special Operations Unit received the highest rating from NATO in terms of its ability to carry out the tasks of the “Tactical Territorial Special Operations Command” in accordance with the standards of the military bloc.

The Insider reports on this distinction of the Special Parachute Administration, noting that this particular rating places the Special Parachute Administration on a special list next to special operations forces such as the Delta Force and the US SEAL.

ΕΤΑ, joined by the Chemical-Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (ΧΒΡΠ) Substances Group, ΠΒΧ Special Evaluation Battalion, is fully organized, staffed and equipped with modern combat equipment in accordance with international standards, according to ΓΕΕΘΑ. It has been fully developed, planned and executed a wide range of tasks in accordance with a hypothetical scenario that simulates the current security challenges emerging in the international environment, and covers a number of tasks performed by the relevant NATO special operations units.

At the end of the review, the committee rated the EDF as “combat-ready” for special operations, describing its performance as “exceptional”, praising Greece’s contribution to its implementation.

Chief of the National Defense General Staff Konstantinos Floros visited the Special Parachute Division a few days after the assessment, posting photos on Twitter. In his post, he stated: “A visit to the camp by “Lieutenant General Andreas Kallinski”. My warmest congratulations to the “Special Airborne Division” for the excellent results in the assessment of the unit by the NATO Special Operations Headquarters. “Proud once again for Combat Ready for ETA!”
