ELSTAT: increase in car sales

A significant increase in car sales was recorded in Greece in December last year.

According to ELSTAT, 12,007 vehicles (new or used) entered the country’s roads for the first time compared to 9,465 in the corresponding month of 2020 (a 15% decrease was presented in December 2020 compared to the corresponding month of 2019). The number of new cars is 6257 compared to 6440 in December 2020, representing a decrease of 2.8%.

In total, 198,552 vehicles (new or used) took to the country’s roads for the first time in 2021, compared to 162,575 vehicles in use (in the twelve months of 2020), indicating an increase of 22.1%.

The number of new vehicles is 111,356 compared to 87,194 in the twelve months of 2020, representing a 27.7% increase.

Also in December 2021, 2323 new motorcycles with a displacement of more than 50 cubic meters entered the country’s roads. New motorcycles are 2,154 compared to 2,237 in December 2020, representing a 3.7% decrease.

During the twelve months of last year, 48,812 new motorcycles with a displacement of more than 50 cubic meters were on the roads of the country. cm (new and used) compared to 38,568 issued in the corresponding period of 2020, showing an increase of 26.6%.

The number of new motorcycles is 44,437 compared to 35,464 in the twelve months of 2020, representing a 25.3% increase.
