Greeks abroad can now register civil status acts such as births, marriages and deaths at consulates directly connected to Greece’s civil registration system, overcoming bureaucratic red tape that used to take months to complete, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Digital said on Thursday. management.
Consular employees have been granted access to the system since January 1, 2022.
“Technology is our ally in the concerted effort we are making to bring our fellow Greeks living abroad closer to Greece,” said Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
Deputy Foreign Minister for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy Andreas Katsaniotis said the institution responds to the needs of Greeks abroad and serves them faster and better, state news agency amna reported.
