Supermarket "Carrefour" returns to Greece

According to FnB Daily, the initial development plan for the French supermarket chain in Greece calls for eight Carrefour stores and several franchises. The first stores are expected to open to visitors in June 2022.

“We decided to create a new business in the retail and food sector and our great desire was to bring Carrefour back to the Greek market. In discussions with Carrefour International Partnership, our strategic planning and brand ambitions have been fully confirmed, ”explains Mr. Vasilis Papadopoulos, CEO of Teleunicom.

As noted, in particular, by Patrick Lasfargue, CEO of Carrefour International Partnership, “Teleunicom Group and its subsidiary Retail & more are the best basis for us to quickly and efficiently enter the Greek market.”

French Carrefour is one of the largest supermarket chains, represented in more than 30 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. It entered the Greek market in 1995 after signing a cooperation agreement with the owners of Marinopoulos.

In June 2012, Carrefour announced its withdrawal from the Greek market and the complete takeover of the company by the Marinopoulos group due to constant consumption cuts and uncertainties in the future following the departure of German Aldi and the bankruptcy of Atlantic (Ατλάντικ).
