On the second day of the opening of Greek schools, as a result of self-tests by students and teachers, 9688 cases of coronavirus infection were detected. Education Minister Thanos Pleuris says that about 1000 positive results were received by teachers, the rest – by students:
“We’ve had over 15,000 positive self-tests in the past and about 10,000 today. This means that infected people would continue to circulate in the community, not knowing that they are sick. “
Mr. Pleuris noted in an interview on SKAI that thanks to the opening of schools, the population is as closely controlled as possible – 1.6 million self-tests have been carried out since Sunday. This is the second major horizontal test, followed by a third on Thursday for Friday’s school attendance.
Ministry of Education sources emphasize that all these case-finding activities, which are carried out thanks to the work of schools, help to identify thousands of potential carriers. Without such massive tests, they would not even have suspected that they were distributing the virus.
Yesterday, Monday January 10th, based on self-test results students and teachers identified 15,547 potential cases.
