Ex-President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev took his daughters with their families and left the country.
Earlier, his nephew Samat Abish was detained. Nazarbayev’s elder brother Bolat remains in the country, Orda.kz reports, but there is no official confirmation of this information. Former President Nazarbayev’s withdrawal from politics is one of the main demands of the protesters in Kazakhstan.
Samat Abish, the detained nephew of the ex-president, was previously removed from his post as first deputy chairman of the National Security Committee.
The media also reported that the authorities began to call Nur-Sultan simply the capital, avoiding using the official name of the city.
