17 murders in 2021
In 2021, the country recorded 17 murders of women, crimes that shocked and worried the public. And shortly before the end of the year in Thessaloniki, fortunately, another terrible incident was avoided.

The aggravated problem of murder of women and domestic violence in general (femicide) worries society and authorities. As it is clear that the years of the pandemic, with isolation and restrictions, have led to the longest stay at home for people, and therefore an increase in the number of such incidents.
