“Competitive” gas price for Greece

Russian Gazprom has made adjustments to the price of gas for Greece and to other terms of the contract.

As reported INTERFAX.RU, Gazprom and Depa Commercial have agreed to adjust the terms of the gas contract, which is valid until 2026. This was announced by the Greek company, as reported by Bloomberg. The change will affect the price of gas supplied to Greece by Gazprom, making it “more competitive” in comparison with the current one in Europe as a whole.

But that’s not all – other conditions of the contract were discussed, which will become more attractive from 2022 and for the next few years. The importance and timeliness of this agreement was emphasized by the Minister of Environment and Energy of Greece Kostas Skrekas – Greek households have already felt the impact of the European energy crisis.

As recently as December, Mr. Skrekas flew to negotiate gas supplies to St. Petersburg. In 2020, Gazprom supplied 3 billion cubic meters of gas to Greece. And in just 11 months of the past, 2021, as noted by the Russian energy company, it exported over 3 billion cubic meters to Greece. meters. This is a record volume in history for this period and more than for the entire previous 2020.
