Antique tablets will appear in Greece in the next 10 days. They will be used to prevent a serious form of the disease.
This was announced by Minister of Health Thanos Pleuris, specifying that in the coming days Greece will receive 5,000 Merck tablets, and in early March – Pfizer tablets.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece, announced during a visit to Sotiria Hospital that our country will be one of the first to receive both drugs for COVID-19:
“Soon we will have at our disposal new medicines for the coronavirus, which will be administered in the first days after someone is diagnosed. These are drugs that appear to be effective against the Omicron mutation. ”
The tablets will be given to patients with a severe form of the disease in the first days of the disease; hospitalization is not required for this.
The Merck tablet is called Lagevrio and if given within the first 5 days, half of the critically ill do not need further treatment. Pfizer’s drug is called Paxlovid. Given within the first five days, it eliminates the need for hospitalization for nine out of ten seriously ill patients.
Yet scientists insist that the most powerful weapon against COVID-19 is vaccination.
