The horrific Omicron outbreak is likely to lead to changes in health measures that will be adopted in schools after the return of students from Christmas break.
The new wave of coronavirus has spread on a large scale almost throughout the country, and the key question for competent specialists and the Ministry of Education is how to organize the educational process as safely as possible in the new year.
Members of the committee on infectious diseases are proposing to open schools on January 17. However, both Health Minister Thanos Pleuris and Deputy Education Minister Zetta Makri stressed that schools will open on time. Presumably by that time, it is possible that the sanitary protocol will be updated, as final decisions are expected to be made by the authorities within the next week.
The key scenario considered by the Ministry of Education is the return of students (usually scheduled for January 10) to schools with a rapid test and changing the conditions for suspending the work of educational institutions in the event of any circumstances (detection of infected in the classroom).
According to the information, the preferred main scenario is for teachers and students to return to school on Monday 10.01 with a rapid test rather than a self test.
