New Measures Announced Live From 6:00 AM Dec 30, 2021

On New Year’s Eve, Greek Health Minister Thanos Pleuris announced new government measures to limit the spread of the Omicron strain of the coronavirus. They begin to apply from tomorrow, from 6:00 on December 30.

New Year’s Eve in restaurants and entertainment venues will last until 2 am, without music and only with seating – up to six people at one table. All other measures announced for January 3, come into effect tomorrow, Thursday, December 30, at six o’clock in the morning:

Mandatory use of a high-protection mask (FFP2 / KN95) or double mask in restaurants, supermarkets and crowded places, including transport, and catering workers. Opening hours of restaurants and entertainment establishments until 12.00 am, no music and only seating, 6 people at the table. The occupancy of the stadiums with vaccinated spectators will be up to 10% of their capacity, up to 1000 people. (According to the minister, in case of non-compliance with the measures, the games will be held behind closed doors). In nursing units and chronic care facilities, visits are only possible if there is a negative PCR test in the last 48 hours. There is a complete ban on visits in hospitals. Remote work in government services and private companies – at least 50%, according to a sliding schedule for the rest.

The introduced measures will be valid until January 16, as it was originally announced, however, in accordance with the epidemiological situation, this may change.
