The goal of the initiative is to make it easier for citizens and businesses to check certificates for coronavirus (vaccination, illness or diagnostic test).
“We noticed some difficulties with verification of certificates, as citizens also had to have an identity card with them to confirm their identity. To serve them as well as to protect their privacy, we have introduced a section of the ID card issued by the police that contains only a photo [владельца], full name and date of birth. The free app is available for download on smartphones and tablets at covidfree.gov.gr, as well as in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users can activate the document on their device by scanning the QR code of their certificate or by downloading it in PDF format and clicking “Save to Wallet”.
