Greek citizens now have the opportunity to demonstrate in the GR Wallet app without Covid, in addition to certificates of vaccination, illness or diagnosis, also an identity card.
According to a joint press release from the Ministry of Digital Governance and Citizens Protection, as of Tuesday December 28, a new version of the GR Wallet app without Covid is available on iOS and Android platforms for mobile devices and tablets, the news agency reported.Amna “ …
The identity card contains the details of the police identity card. In particular, name, date of birth and photo.
Thus, wherever a coronavirus certificate check is required upon entry, citizens can now show their ID through the app, but no one conducting the check will be able to scan it.
The goal of the initiative is to make it easier for citizens and businesses to check certificates for coronavirus (vaccination, illness or diagnostic test).
“We noticed some difficulties with verification of certificates, as citizens also had to have an identity card with them to confirm their identity. To serve them as well as to protect their privacy, we have introduced a section of the ID card issued by the police that contains only a photo [владельца], full name and date of birth. Today this is reflected in the certificate. There will be a certificate on one page, and identification data on the other, ”Deputy Minister Georgos Georgantas told the state-run ERT TV channel.
The free app is available for download on smartphones and tablets at covidfree.gov.gr, as well as in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users can activate the document on their device by scanning the QR code of their certificate or by downloading it in PDF format and clicking “Save to Wallet”. They must also obtain their identification data from the system using Taxisnet codes. Multiple certifications can be downloaded to one device to make life easier for families.
PS How will the scanning and storage of very personal data in the ID card be prevented? How do I get an ID card image that is only for police checking uploaded to the app? What does the Greek data protection authority say about this?
