There has been no news of a missing Briton in Kabul since Saturday. According to the Daily Mirror, he was arrested by the Taliban.
British citizen Grand Bailey, 50, an NGO worker in Afghanistan, was arrested at gunpoint on Saturday. Since then, no news of him has been reported, according to a source close to the British security services. Foreign Ministry spokesman says:
“We are aware of the arrest of a British citizen in Afghanistan and we keep in touch with his family.”
A French agency tried to contact the Taliban to get at least minimal information about the fate of the Briton, but Taliban officials ignored the request and did not respond.
Anxiety is growing in London. It is not known what happened to him, where and why he is being held. The Grand Bailey returned to Afghanistan in September after the Taliban seized power.
