The Federation of Secondary Education Teachers OLME reports an explosion of coronavirus cases among schoolchildren in Glyfada, Virona and Sparta, and speaks of the indifference of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.
According to OLME, there are 40 reported cases in the Glyfada school and 30 infected students in Viron. The Federation of Educators is calling on the Ministry to take urgent action against the spread of the coronavirus. In her message it says:
“The Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, with continued indifference to student / teacher health, has failed to take any action to protect the educational community from a pandemic during school travel.
The school trips, which were expected to take place during this period, sparked a new explosion in the incidence of illness in the school community. Notably, the school in Glyfada returned with 40 reported cases, while the school in Viron was forced to return on the second day of the trip after 30 of the 75 participating students fell ill.
The ministry did not give any instructions on the safe conduct of school trips, did not take any measures to protect the health of students and teachers during their travel. We urge the Ministry of Education to finally take responsibility and take the necessary measures against the spread of the virus in all educational processes. Teachers and students are not consumables! “
