Antivaxers “recruit” homeless people for vaccination on behalf of others

A 46-year-old bum was detained in western Athens for receiving the Covid-19 vaccine on behalf of others. He admitted that he had already received several doses of the vaccine and that he was paid 25 euros for each vaccination.

The stranger was in the company of a woman who was traveling with him for vaccination. They were recruited by a third person.

The case took place at the Agia Varvara infectious diseases hospital on Thursday afternoon.

A 46-year-old man showed up for the Covid-19 vaccination with a 27-year-old’s ID and someone else’s social security number. He admitted that he received 25 euros to make the vaccine on behalf of this person. Moreover, he admitted that he had done the same in the past and that he had already received several doses of the vaccine.

According to the site lawandorder.gr, who revealed an unprecedented story, one homeless person received 16 doses of the vaccine, and his girlfriend – 12 doses.

The couple are reported to be drug addicts and have no permanent place of residence.

They came to the hospital with IDs and social security numbers of the people on whose behalf they received the vaccine. When asked about the change in their appearance, they replied that “their features have changed due to chronic drug use.”

Citing police sources, the website notes that the couple said they were “recruited” by a third party residing in West Attica. This person had to provide them with IDs and AMKA numbers of those who wanted to register as “vaccinated” but never received the vaccine.

Then the “intermediary” was waiting for them at the hospital, they handed over their identity card and received 25 euros.

It is not known how long this scam lasted, but one hospital employee noticed the couple’s frequent presence there and reported to the police.

Police took the vaccination center under close surveillance at noon Thursday and interrogated the 46-year-old when he showed up for vaccinations.

The doctor who vaccinated was surprised that the man did not remember his name or any other information on “his” identity card. The doctor asked him to remove the mask and saw that the face in front of him had nothing to do with the face of a man in his 20s.

A friend of the 46-year-old also came to the hospital for vaccinations with the ID of a 26-year-old woman.

Until the problem was resolved, the middleman disappeared. Homeless friend escaped arrest.

A 46-year-old man was arrested for stealing documents and perjury.

It is reported that a 27-year-old man who, as reportedly claimed that his identity card had been stolen and was also arrested.

The police are continuing to investigate the case.
