Omicron-strain displaces Delta, EU is almost ready

Experts predict that in a month Omicron will oust the Delta and become dominant in Europe.

However, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, claims that Europe is ready for this. Already 67% of Europeans have received protection from coronavirus in the form of a full vaccination, more than 300 million vaccinations are carried out every month in the territory of the Commonwealth.

Every two to three days, the number of infected people doubles, and by mid-January, Ms von der Leyen stresses, the omicron promises to become dominant. The third dose of Pfizer / BioNTech will help protect people from the rapidly spreading variant of the coronavirus.

Madeira is the first Portuguese region to start vaccinating children aged 5 to 11, and on the mainland the campaign kicks off on Saturday. Immunization for this age group has begun in several German regions, including Bovaria and Berlin. Yesterday in Greece, the first babies came for vaccinations against coronavirus.

In all countries of the European Union, children are vaccinated on a voluntary basis and with parental permission.
