Electricity bill subsidy increases

Increased subsidy for payment of electricity bills in December.

The government is introducing a new supplementary subsidy to pay electricity bills for households and small businesses, in an effort to mitigate the widespread surge in price per kilowatt-hour.

According to the newspaper “Τα Νέα”, in the near future the Minister of Energy will announce an increase in the subsidies received by household consumers from suppliers (energy sales companies).

According to sources, from the current 130 euros, this figure will rise to 230 euros per megawatt-hour. This subsidy will cover consumption in December. If the information is confirmed, households will receive a € 69 discount on their electricity bills for the first 300 kilowatt-hours per month.

The increase in the current subsidy to € 230 per megawatt-hour is almost 77%.
