Nikos Andrulakis won the KINAL / PASOK leadership race with 68.42%

Nikos Andrulakis has been elected the new leader of the Socialist Movement for Change (KINAL / PASOK). According to the first results Sunday night, the 42-year-old politician won 68.42% of the 206,000 votes, while former Prime Minister Giorgos Papandreou received 31.58%.

Papandreou as well as Prime Minister Mitsotakis called the new leader and congratulated him ahead of the final results. Mitsotakis even invited him to “chat” on the following days.

In the first round of leadership elections held last Sunday, 270,000 people voted.

Unfortunately, the new leader will not be able to represent the party in the Greek parliament, as he has been an elected member of the European Parliament since 2014.

KINAL / PASOK is the third largest party in the Greek parliament with 22 members.

Will he resign as a MEP? The first analyzes say: “Hardly!”

Nikos Andrulakis is a civil engineer by profession. He comes from Arkalohori (Crete).

He is considered “moderate,” whatever that means, and has refrained from taking a clear position on key issues during debates with other candidates for leadership.
