A police officer with a companion, arrested by the Turkish authorities, is finally at home.
How previously reported, a Greek police officer and a woman accompanying him were arrested in Turkey while traveling to a neighboring country. The arrest mobilized the Greek police, as well as the Greek Foreign Ministry, demanding an explanation from the Turkish authorities.
The police officer and his companion, accused of violating their stay in the restricted area, were released after checking their phones. According to evros24.gr, they paid a fine of 3,500 euros (50,000 Turkish pounds) assigned to them and were able to return to Greece yesterday.
The Turkish authorities released them without additional restrictive conditions, but they were forced to remain in Edirne until the control of their phones was completed.
